everything you need to know about in one place. archives december 2008 november 2008 october 2008 september 2008 august 2008 july 2008 june 2008 may 2008 april 2008 march 2008 more... categories europe middle east site news december 05, 2008 what is wine tourism? wine is not a very complex drink, considering the basic idea of wine. it is made from grapes that have been turned into juice. the juice is allowed to ferment and the result is wine. that's it! but, it is this fermentation process that is critical in wine-making, this itself decides most palate properties of the wine. not that the quality of grapes is irrelevant, though. there are a number of different varieties and types of wine, beginning with the basic white and red. people around the world are beginning to love wine. they are enjoying it, in fact, so much that many are touring the world just to taste brands specific to some parts of the world. wine tour a wine tour is when a traveler goes to specific destinations in order to view wine being made or taste a variety of different wines. some are lucky enough to have vineyards a short distance away, but others need to travel thousands of miles in order to taste that elusive glass of wine that they have been searching for. not that they would mind! the difference in wines comes in the fermenting process and in the grapes. there are dozens of types of grapes, and each grape ferments a little differently than any other. when more than two grapes are added together, another type of wine is formed. this means that there are dozens of different subtle nuances in the smell, look, and flavor of the wine. wine culture it used to be that people only drank wine when they were out at a fancy restaurant. now, however, wine is widely available, even at places you may not normally expect - try your neighborhood grocery store for some inexpensive flavor! there are inexpensive wines, including some that come in boxes, and there are expensive wines, which are more elaborately decorated and packaged. most agree that it is not necessarily the cost that matters when it comes to the taste, but that more expensive wines often taste a bit more refined. some people even try to collect wines that they enjoy, especially wines that considered to be vintage. france france has long been a tourist destination, and not without compelling reasons. a great traditional background, great food, and great wines! tourists in france can visit the many vineyards in france and watch how wines are made. trust us, next time, the same wine will taste better! they can also sample a number of different types and years of wines that were made at the vineyard. they can often even travel around the vineyard and pick grapes right off the stem. anybody that enjoys wine would enjoy a trip that is revolves around wine tourism. this is not to say that the tourist can not enjoy the other sites as well, but when wine is the center of the trip, the tourist is sure to have a good time. enjoy your drinking, but remember, don't drive after that!
